Burnt cookies, a reintroduction

I have been writing, putting up songs of the post and pictures and editing in this part of cyberspace for about four years now. In the pages, you can read the introduction, where I explain why I started Runningmtnmama.

I can’t say that the reason I started keeps me writing anymore. 

I still remember holding my grandfather’s hand while he was under hospice care and how it didn’t feel like his thick, strong hand that held me as a kid.

After his death, and many sleepless nights dealing with an infant and two young kids, I decided to take control of my health.

But for most of that time, I was burning cookies.

You see, I have an gas oven in my new home. We paid $75 for the stove that was built in the 1970s. It has an oven below the burners and another above them. Only the top oven works.

But there isn’t a knob that lets you set the temperature. You have to push in and turn the little stick where the knob is supposed to be. 

Then you watch … and pray you don’t destroy what you’re cooking.

I experimented a lot for the past few years during my quest to be healthy. 

While I’ve had some success, I’ve had a lot of failures too. You can see much of it reflected in my blog.

In the past six months, things have started to click for me. I’m more in tune with my body, just like I’ve learned about my oven.

I know where to turn the little stick to get the perfect roasting temperature. I know the left back is hotter than the right side.

Now, my cookies may be burned on the edges, but they’re still tasty.

So, what does this have to do with my blog? I’m back as a blogger, but I’m going to focus more on the fitness journey. My Mountain Kids will be here too, but maybe a little less.

I’m a Mountain Mama, someone with who does what she can with what she has. And right now, that’s not a lot. But hopefully, I can help you figure out how to achieve your goals, fitness or otherwise, with what you have too.
