Three weeks to GORUCK

I have my ruck, hydration unit, weight and a tentative list of supplies for my GORUCK light event in late October.

I just confirmed that one piece of technology, my Milestone Pod, should be able to handle the challenge. I’m in the process of getting a new Lifeproof case for my phone so it survives.

Most of my gear for GORUCK, as collected so far.

Training wise, I have seen an improvement in what I was able to do when I first started, but I feel like the days I had to do half a workout or skip sections because of life have hurt my progress. I will survive GORUCK, I’m just not sure what kind of shape I’ll be in when I’m done.

I’m still debating fuel, as I’m not sure whether I want to go with a bar or something portioned out, like chews or wafers. Right now I’m leaning to Larabars bites or something similar, packed into baggies at the proper serving size.

In two weeks, I do my post training test, hopefully the odds will be in my favor.

One of the people I follow on Instagram regularly posted workouts, which I modified to use. MettleForger, aka Kirk, died this past weekend at a SEALFIT event. I’m adding his name to those I’m dedicating my ruck to. I last dedicated race miles at the Marine Corps Marathon. I think since this is my first ruck, I might as well find a way to push myself when things get tough mentally.

Life has been busy, and doing this training puts away the stress and other worries that run around in my head all day. I like it a lot.

This is a photo from a recent workout. See what I have to put up with?! Dogs getting in the way all the time. Sheesh.

Really, I love it when my doggies buddies join me. They’re worried because I say too many curse words when the going gets tough.

A workout from Week 3’s training and one of the reasons I couldn’t finish it all in one session.
